The Halloween squad

Pumpkincat

Made of: A plump, round pumpkin. Ringleader of the Halloween squad.

Pumpkincat is a cartoon cat made out of a plump, round pumpkin, with a green stalk on top, a curly vine leaf, rosy cheeks and a stripy ginger tail. There is no carved face and nothing scary here, just a cheerful little pumpkin who loves autumn more than almost anything.

Pumpkincat is the ringleader of the Halloween squad. Every October, Pumpkincat plans the trick-or-treat route, makes sure nobody gets left behind and hands out the best sweets at the end. Bossy? Never. Organised, enthusiastic and very good with a clipboard? Absolutely.

Favourite spot: the bakery doorstep, surrounded by fallen leaves and a couple of smaller pumpkins, with a jam-jar lantern glowing nearby. From there Pumpkincat can greet every visitor and keep an eye on the weather.

Quirks: smells faintly of cinnamon and nutmeg, collects the crunchiest leaves, and starts the Halloween countdown in September. Pumpkincat stays in season right through to Bonfire Night, and quietly hopes everyone will keep the pumpkin spice going until Christmas.
